Europeade starting tomorrow:
5,000 dancers and musicians in Bolzano

More than 5,000 dancers, singers and musicians will be hosted in Bolzano during the next five days. Many of the participants are already on the road in order to arrive in Bolzano on time and to participate in the biggest European folk dance and music festival. From July 21st to July 25th, the participants with their colourful costumes will paint the city in the most glowing colours, and celebrate a huge folk festival together the citizens of Bolzano.

During the next five days, Bolzano will be enlivened with music, dance and entertainment. "We invite all the citizens of South Tyrol to witness in person the biggest European folk dance and music festival in Bolzano", says Monika Rottensteiner, chairwoman of the Local Organizing Committee. "The Europeade is a festival of friendship, music and dance", continues Rottensteiner. Tomorrow, Wednesday, more than 5,000 participants from 30 European countries will come to Bolzano during the day. Before the official opening ceremony taking place at the Palaonda stadium on Thursday evening at 8 p.m., already on Wednesday evening, all the participants and organizers will gather and get to know each other in Piazza Walther during a pre-opening party under the motto "Welcome to Bolzano!". The participants will be welcomed with traditional South Tyrolean music and dance acts. Several folk dance groups as well as the South Tyrolean Europeade Band will perform. On Thursday at 10 a.m., the Europeade will be presented during an international press conference in the City Hall. Afterwards, at 11 a.m., the Europeade Forum at Palais Campofranco (Piazza Walther) will be opened, while at 11:30 a.m. there will be the opening of the photo exhibition showing impressions of 46 years of Europeade festivals in the Museo Mercantile (Mercantile Museum). The photo exhibition will be opened on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The entrance is free as for all the other events. Even the big opening ceremony taking place on Thursday evening at the Palaonda stadium, where more than 2,500 dancers and musicians will perform, is free.
