History of the Europeade 2010
Below you can find a chronologic overview of the single steps towards the Bolzano 2010 Europeade.
January 2010: The Europeade website is launched.
November 2009: In mid-November, a Belgian delegation of the International Europeade Committee visits Bolzano for four days in order to undertake an on-site inspection. The committee is very satisfied with the local organisers’ work and commitment.
September 2009: The LOC is officially founded and is presided by Mrs. Monika Rottensteiner, who is also the president of the ArGe Volkstanz.
July 2009: The city councillor for culture Mr. Primo Schönsberg, representing the Mayor of Bolzano, officially signs the contract that ultimately brings the 2010 Europeade to Bolzano.
July 15th – 19th, 2009: A mixed group of South Tyrolean folk dancers participates in the 2009 Europeade in Klaipeda (Lithuania), where Bolzano and South Tyrol are presented as hosts of the 2010 Europeade and arouse huge interest.
February 2009: Mr. Bruno Peeters and Mr. Rüdiger Hess of the International Europeade Committee visit Bolzano for the second time and hold conversations with the Mayor of Bolzano, Mr. Luigi Spagnolli, some city councillors and Mr. Luis Durnwalder, the Head of the South Tyrolean Government.
April/Mai 2008: Mr. Bruno Peeters visits South Tyrol and convinces himself of Bolzano as a possible host of the event. Initially, Bolzano considers organising the 2012 or 2013 edition. The Mayor of Bolzano, Mr. Luigi Spagnolli, and the former Vice Mayor, Mr. Elmar Pichler-Rolle, are enthusiastic about the idea of hosting the Europeade in Bolzano. During his stay in Bolzano, Mr. Bruno Peeters visits schools, the Stadio Druso, the municipal theatre etc. as well as the traditional Maypole Festival in Terlano.
July 2007: Mr. Thomas Haberer and Mr. Dietmar Folie take the initiative and get in touch with the International Europeade Committee. Since the first conversations with the president Mr. Bruno Peeters, Mr. Thomas Haberer and Mr. Dietmar Folie have worked enthusiastically and tirelessly for the organisation of the Europeade.
